CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced its 2022-23 Academic All-District Teams this week, including the recognition of four UNI women's basketball players for their academic success. The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Guards Maya McDermott and Emerson Green, forward Grace Boffeli, and center Cynthia Wolf were selected to this year's All-District Team.
Nomination criteria include holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, being a sophomore standing or higher both academically and athletically and playing a key role in the lineup with participation in at least half of all scheduled team competitions. All persons that garner Academic All-District recognition are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
College Sports Communicators' All-America program recognizes basketball honorees across four divisions --- NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA. McDermott is a sophomore studying digital media leadership, posting a 3.52 GPA while averaging 14.7 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds a game. Green is a sophomore studying elementary education with a 3.78 GPA and averages 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.9 steals a game. Boffeli is also a sophomore studying elementary education, posting a 3.92 GPA while averaging 16 points and 8.7 rebounds a game to lead the Missouri Valley Conference in rebounding. Wolf is a senior double majoring in biology and gerontology with a 3.78 GPA. Wolf averages 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 points, and 0.9 blocks College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America selections will be voted on and announced in mid-March.
