ST LOUIS -- UNI soccer junior goalkeeper Caitlin Richards has received her first weekly honor of the season.
For the final week of the regular season, Richards has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Goalkeeper of the Week by conference office staff. Richards helped the Panthers to two shutouts in the last week of regular season play against Murray State and Belmont.
During the week Richards added two more shutouts to her record in a 3-0 win over Murray State and a 0-0 tie against Belmont. Richards now has five complete clean sheets on the season and one combined shutout through 17 games. Richards made seven saves against Murray State and didn't face a true shot against Belmont thanks to the Panthers tough defense.
The junior goalkeeper also has not allowed a goal for three consecutive games. The Panthers were also able to pick up a clean sheet against UIC the week prior, bringing Richards goals allowed average down to 1.35. Richards is also averaging 3.81 saves on the season with a .753 save percentage.
This is Richard second Player of the Week honor in her career. She was named the Freshman of the Week back on March 23, 2020, for her performance at Southern Illinois.
