Hello and welcome to my "blog" on my personal business website! Let me take a brief moment to give you a quick introduction to me. My name is Liz Holbrook, I'm originally from Goshen Indiana, a small city in Northern Indiana. At the moment I currently live in Indianapolis Indiana finishing up my degrees in communications and theatre. After school I plan on going into the field of broadcasting in some shape or form.
I hope in particular to be a sports broadcaster as I've always been glued to the screen when a game of any kind is on air. Whether it was a long and slow baseball game or a neck breaking fast hockey game, I wanted to know everything about the sport and to understand it. But I knew that I was not an athletic individual. So instead talking about sports constantly is a pretty good way for me to get around the issue of my poor athleticism.
Over the past three and a half years at school I've had the experience to be in a lot of different roles when it comes to sports broadcasting. I've been out at different sporting events like the Indianapolis 500 or Indiana Pacers game acting as a reporter. Interviewing athletes and coaches for a minute or two update for the next hour. I've helped work on broadcasts of football, basketball, and baseball games as either a studio host, color commentator, or as my favorite position, the play by play announcer. I also work part time at a local radio group for their sports station, working as the board operator for college and high school games.
All these different experiences have made me realize how much I want to be in the sports broadcasting field. While I feel that I have a lot of the skills necessary for being in this field, there is one thing I think is a little lacking. That would be my writing skills in regards to sports and writing reports or articles on a game or a team.
Which is where this blog comes in! I'm going to be using this area of my website as a sort of pseudo beat reporter portfolio. I'll be writing at least an article a week here on either a game that I watched, or on a sports related story line. It's also an area where I'll be talking about some of my favorite sports that aren't as well covered in the Indianapolis area. Like hockey, if you know me, hockey is one of my favorite things. You may also get the occasional personal or non-sports review articles along with the others.
I'm looking forward to the journey ahead and writing more about sports. I hope you're excited to read and follow along too! Now lets get to writing about sports shall we?
